HOW WE WORK
1. Project Brief
We begin with a conversation about the space, intended application, design direction, programme and practical requirements. This helps us understand the project context and identify which leather surface families may be most appropriate.
2. Material Selection and Samples
We curate relevant material options and provide physical samples for review. Colour, texture, scale and finish can then be considered alongside the wider interior palette, lighting and intended atmosphere.
3. Specification and Detailing
Once a direction is selected, we coordinate available technical information, product formats and detailing considerations with the project team. Final requirements remain subject to the chosen collection, substrate, site conditions and supplier confirmation.
4. Ordering and Project Coordination
We own the quotation, ordering and communication with our selected European manufacturing partners through production and delivery. Installation scope, site preparation and final responsibility are agreed separately according to the project arrangement and appointed contractors.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Samples
Physical samples are the starting point for material approval. Printed and digital references cannot reproduce the exact colour, grain, texture or tactile quality of natural leather, so samples should be reviewed alongside the project’s stone, timber, metal, textiles and lighting. We can curate an initial selection according to the application and design direction. For larger, customised or visually prominent surfaces, a representative panel or layout sample may also be advisable. Final colour availability, formats and sample options must be confirmed for the selected collection.
Substrates and Site Conditions
The supporting surface has a direct influence on alignment, appearance and long-term performance. Manufacturer guidance confirms that leather flooring requires a smooth, suitable base; examples include finished concrete, cast flooring or appropriate underlayment, depending on the system. Walls, corners, service openings and adjoining materials should be reviewed before the final specification is confirmed. Acoustic systems may also require a particular wall build-up or mounting depth. Substrate preparation, moisture conditions, tolerances and compatibility must therefore be assessed for the selected collection and actual site conditions.
Installation Coordination
Precise setting-out and professional installation are essential for premium leather surfaces. Before ordering, the project team should resolve panel rhythm, junctions, corners, exposed edges, openings, lighting, joinery and transitions to adjoining materials. Documented acoustic systems may use direct bonding or concealed cleat mounting, while some panels can be connected invisibly to extend an installation. These methods are collection-specific and should not be applied universally. Leather Floors Bulgaria can coordinate available product information, but installation scope, site preparation and final responsibility depend on the agreed project arrangement and appointed contractors.
Natural Variation
Natural leather is not completely uniform. Grain, tonal nuance and texture differ between hides, and no two pieces are exactly alike. This variation gives the material its depth and character, but it should be understood before approval. Catalogue colours are approximate and should not be treated as an exact representation of the finished surface. Physical samples should be reviewed under the intended lighting, and the desired degree of tonal variation should be discussed for larger installations. Any collection-specific selection, sorting or matching expectations require supplier confirmation before ordering and production.
Care and Maintenance
Care requirements depend on the leather type, finish, application and level of use. For documented leather-floor applications, routine vacuuming with a soft brush is generally recommended, while certain marks may be treated with a slightly damp cloth, preferably without cleaning agents. Minor scratches may soften through continued use in appropriate leather finishes due to natural leather's self healing properties. This guidance should not automatically be applied to every application or collection. Abrasive tools, excessive moisture and unapproved cleaning products must be avoided. Collection-specific care instructions should be confirmed and provided as part of the project handover.
Lead Times
Production and delivery periods vary according to the selected collection, standard or customised format, quantity, colour, manufacturing schedule and transport requirements. Manufacturer documentation distinguishes between standard and custom-made products and may identify rush-order conditions, but this does not establish one universal lead time for every project. The programme should allow for physical sample approval, technical review, confirmation of dimensions, production, transport and site readiness. Current lead times must be confirmed with the supplier during quotation and reconfirmed before ordering, particularly for customised and acoustic solutions.
